THE AGENDA | SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Interested in contributing to The Agenda? We love featuring thought-provoking content that encourages people and businesses to think differently, be more inclusive, and focus on solutions.

Please send your editorial idea to theagenda@impactcommmsinstitute.org and answer the following questions to help us determine if your story idea is a fit for our platform.

We look forward to working with you!

What’s your agenda?

  • What is the theme or topic you’d like to write about?

  • What argument would you like to make with this piece?

  • Is there something you think the reader will learn that they don’t already know? This could be a buried detail, a trend on the horizon, an underrated hero, etc.

  • Who are you hoping will read this piece and why?

  • What is the call-to-action for the reader?

  • What emotion do you hope to evoke?

  • Will this piece illuminate the practice of Impact Communications (i.e. demonstrate the outcomes of responsible or irresponsible communications practices)?

Style and credit guidelines:

We encourage differing opinions to allow for a diverse dialogue. We want to champion the individual voices of contributors to The Agenda, and with that comes ownership of ideas.

When writing your post, the thoughts and opinions shared within it are your own, so first-person narrative is encouraged. Please refrain from speaking on behalf of Impact Communications, and stay away from using phrases or positioning such as “like us, our, we.”

Our recommended word count per post is between 400-700 words; we are flexible with length, but often less is more. Please provide a high-res photo with caption and be sure to cite your references and credit and caption your images.

WHAT WE ARE

The Agenda exists to inspire action through impact storytelling.

WHAT WE ARE NOT

The Agenda is not a platform for political punditry, nor is it an echo chamber. Contributed content should reflect Impact Communications’ mission of using storytelling and responsible communications as a catalyst for systemic change. It should tie back to solutions, and provide calls-to-action wherever possible.

Above all, it should inspire the reader.
