TESSA DANELESKO

Co-Executive Director

  • Avid collector of facts about whales

  • Will notice if you’re on your phone too much

  • Knows game nights are the best nights

Tessa joins the Impact Communications Institute with a background in program management, communications and strategic planning gained from working in the environmental non-profit sector for 10 years. Her past roles with the David Suzuki Foundation, Ocean Wise / Vancouver Aquarium's Coastal Ocean Research Institute and Georgia Strait Alliance have taken her offshore and around the globe.

Tessa’s Impact Communications practice is grounded in justice, and she draws on her knowledge of equity and anti-oppression to provide thoughtful and considered recommendations to collaboratively drive systemic change.

Born and raised on Treaty 7 Territory in Calgary, she moved west after falling in love with B.C.’s coast during her childhood summer vacations. Tessa holds a BSc in Biology and Psychology with co-op from the University of Victoria, during which she secured research opportunities to help study baboons in South Africa and storm petrels in the Aleutian Islands.

Away from the office, you can find her cooking up a storm or trying to avoid cycling uphill. She lives in North Vancouver, on the traditional and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, with her partner, daughter and very cute rescue pup, Burger.
